Bristol Cycle Festival and The Bicycle Ballet Co have teamed up with Make Sunday Special to develop access for visually impaired people (VIP) to the festival and other Bristol events.
Inside Strictly Cycling, is a free workshop for VIPs, cycling on and moving with tandems, which takes place from 11am to 1pm. The Bicycle Ballet Co has been working with VIPs and tandems since 2012, developing techniques for creating movement and dance around bikes. Participants in the beSpoke workshop will get the inside track on the Strictly Cycling Show. A limited number of tandems and front riders are available, or you can bring your own. Please contact Sarah Slater by email: mawwwg@gmail.com, or by phone 07940 208779 to sign up and discuss any access needs.
From 2pm – 3pm, try out a few Strictly Cycling moves with the team, at Bristol Cycling Festival’s Carnivelo, the UKs only cycling carnival. Don a Strictly Cycling costume or go just as you are, to join in the fun. Meet at the Castle Park Bandstand. The Carnivelo is a two mile loop around the city centre at a gentle pace.
If you don’t fancy Carnivelo, stay to enjoy Make Sunday Special. Events include music, performance and stalls. At 4pm, there will be a free, audio described outdoor by the Bicycle Ballet Co of Strictly Cycling, a ‘cycle-about’ show, in and around Corn St and Small St.
Access Support Guides will be available to guide small VI groups around, and audio description will be available throughout the day. Transport assistance is also available. Please contact Sarah Slater by email: mawwwg@gmailcom or by phone: 07940 208779.
